Engine start rev ups

my rx7 will rev up over 8,000rpm when you start it unless you tap the gas , then it idles off at 500rpm and runns like a top (Runs like new) might need spark plugs cause it sounds like it gets choppy

WTF!? Over 8k?

I suggest you not let ANYONE but YOU drive it... ever.

Sounds like a fucked up AWS system. check the throttle body for stickyness and match spec for EVERY component on there or related to the accelerated warm up system to a FSM or Haynes manual.

yeah, 3200 is the set warm up stage, then it goes down slowly.

My Se7en goes to around 3200rpm and when you tap the gas it goes to 1500rpm for about 5min. then it drops to regular idle.

You guys should seriously start the car in gear with the clutch depressed. It will run up to 2K and idle down from there. 3K on a cold engine only increases wear over time.

True that. I always start the car in gear, and everytime it only revs to 2k, then drops to 1500, and then to normal idle.

I always just give it a rev tap... goes down to abut 1300-1550 and settles from there.
