Engine on the stand ready to go in!!! [PICS 56k okkk]

Well, I finally got it this far with some help from friends and Santiago.

Details on it
-New rotor housings
-RA apex seals with stock springs
-S4 TII rotors
-Ligthened flywheel
-New sideseals/corner seals /oil rings
-BNR 3 turbo
-Exhaust/intakes ported with RB street templates by me.

Here is the WG detail on the BNR 3

Here is the back plate he milled out

I hope this thing doesnt smoke...I have been reading reports on the BNR smoking...I am gonna make sure the oil pan is under vacuum and hope that helps. I am sure it will be fine

Its my first rebuild...hope this thing runs!

Damn......is there anything that you "didn't" refurbish???? I was thinking as I clicked onto this thread, "sure is taking him a long time". NOW after seeing that you painted evey last bolt prior to installation I am thing that you must have worked 16 hours a day on it.

REALLY, REALLY LOOKS NICE!

Quote of the day "Freinds and Santiago" I am sure Santiago is thrilled with the new desigantion. Does Santiago look like Buzz?

You crack me up.

Thanks guys

Yeah, I really did take my sweet *** time man. I sure hope it pays off...cause I dont want to do this again for a good long while.

Its Racing Beats lightened steel flywheel. 17lbs. It was used but I had it resurfaced. They did an amazing job on that resurfacing. I was shocked on how good it looked.

Thanks for the FW Santiago!

I got the engine in today....but gotta go to work tommorw...so much more work to do

Sweet actuator arm, I didnt notice it until I read hondahaters post and had to take a second look. What'd you do to modify it? How are you going to be adjusting it? Hooking up an air source and seeing what PSI it opens at or are you just gonna drive it around and see how fast the spool up is?

Bryan at bnr does this to all his stage III's now. This way you can put more tension on it so that it's harder for the wastegate to open thus decreesing spool time and increasing boost levels.

Talking

Well, it is in the car for once. It has been a long time!
The crazy thing is the guy that I had working the hoist while I was under the car dosen't know jack about cars and isn't into cars. But he learned how to work the hoist, did a great job, didn't mind the hot temps, and even brought me lunch.

I owe him....beer and lots of it!

So, I am guessing you have to take the little clip off the WG arm and twist that rod?
I noticed that 11psi is written on the front of the acctuator. You can see it in the pictures if you look close.

Does that mean the turbo is going to hold 11psi. Or the WG is fully open at 11psi?

Thanks again for the complainments!

This is the rest of the setup:

Haltech E6K
720/1600
Walboro fuel pump
Greddy Vspec fmic
Koyo radiator
Stock fan and no AC so hopfully overheating wont be a problem

Aw man- that engine bay gives me impure thoughts. With that setup, how many RWHP do you expect? I am planning a similar setup in the vert (with a smaller turbo- stock housing w/larger wheel)

Wow, really nice paint and detail job. Lots better than mine. I just dropped mine in after rebuilding it all winter. I had a friend help me take it out last Dec. After that I did all the engine work by myself. Then he helped with the hoist putting it back in.

That engine bay is really clean!! Mine is white like that....er yellow now. I could'nt get the yellowish color out. I was not going rub the whole thing with compound. And under the brake booster and the ignition was a bitch as well. You're doing a great job. Keep it up

well the reason bryan started doing this with this stage III's was because the stock wastegate actuator spring is not strong enough for the added flow so what happens is at about 10 or so psi the wastegate spring will give causing the wastegate to open and keeping boost around 10 or so pis. now once you twist the rod what happens is it puts a preload on the spring thus making the wastegate harder to open (for instance if you take the wastegate arm and pull it by hand just a tad it is fairly easy however if you try to pull past that it is alot harder). when it is harder to open the boost goes up to 15psi and it spool a hell of a lot quicker! To the guys that don't have this the only thing to do is drill a hole in the actuator rod a couple of millimeters away from the existing hole. Doing this does the same thing that yours does it's just not adjustible witch is fine by me but now I have to take the turbo off and put the wastegate actuator back on and that is like a 2 or 3 hour job
