engine seized

i purchased a 1988 rx-7 gxl. It was in storage for about 4 months and ran fine beforehand. after being in storage, the engine was seized up. When i try to turn the engine, all i can hear is the starter trying to engage the flywheel, but thats it. the previous owner used synthetic oil so im not sure if thats part of the problem. any ideas?

Put it in gear and try moving it by pushing it. It should free up. And you might want to put a bit of ATF in the intake or by the spark plugs.

i did roll the car and try to dump the cluth in high gear, and in reverse but it wouldnt budge. I don't know what could lock it up tight enough not to be knocked loose when i dump the clutch.

Not to sure in your case but when I bought my 87 Turbo II it had sat for like 3-4 years.

Engine wouldn't budge for anything. Well finally pulled the engine and took it apart. It seems that a coolant seal busted (probably reason for parking) and rusted everything tight.

Hope in your case it isn't anything that drastic but could of happened.

Mike

Search for "carbon lock". But be aware that even if you get it free, the engine is likely dead and will blow soon after.
