I have a question for you. I have two 2nd generation RX7's. One is an '88, the other a '91. The '88 is manual, the '91 automatic. I want to switch the engine of the automatic '91 into the manual '88. Do you think this is possible, from what i've researched i think i just need to have the ECU from the '88 programmed for the engine of the '91. Am I all wrong? Thanks.

Hey, you need a 91 ECU from a manual, and it should work fine. you have to pull the auto tranny stuff, bolt on a flywheel, throw a clutch on there, and you are ready to go.

The wiring harnesses are a bit different between the two cars, so that may present a problem.

Sean, may I have a copy of the TII writeup? Thanks!

It's not that easy. There's stuff you have to cut and hack away to make the auto fit. Also, there's the e-shaft...

I'm sending out a bunch today, home from work on rest. If you want one, now is your last chance for about two months, as I leave in a couple days for work again.

Sean,

If you want, I can swing by sometime whenever you get back and film you in action. I've got a Sony miniDV cam. I'd just need to pick up a few extra DV tapes.

Thanks a lot for the offer. Actually, I will be buying a digital camera when I return, so it probably won't be necessary. Besides, I have an AIW Radeon 8500 in my PC...
You can definitely swing by sometime though, check out how the project is going, maybe take a look at the products I have in development... Maybe test out a few parts for me? (My car won't be running...)

No prob. You can always use a second camera to capture the different angles Also I have a firewire card in my comp, so if you ever need a hand capturing the vids, let me know.

Definately drop me a message when you get back, I wouldn't mind apprenticing with a rotary master for a few hours

Cool, cool.
Would you be interested in testing a few of my products in about 3 months or so? You'd get a huge discount on them, plus a couple free dyno's on your car.

I'm not sure if my car would be the idea candidate, being N/A and auto, but if you have parts that'll work it can be the guinea pig

There is no such thing as a ECU for a manual and a ECU for a automatic. A 91 ECU is good for automatic or manual cars. An ECU for a given year is good for either manual or automatic.Thats my understanding of ECU's.

Humblest of apologies. I have been away the past 7 weeks, and with only (very expensive) satellite-laptop connection, sending attachments was not on my list of priorities.
I tried to email everyone I forgot, but apparently misplced yours.
Can I get an email addy?

Hi Sean,
You sent me an email with the attachments but they were empty. I could see that they were word docs but they also said 0bytes. Could I trouble you to resend those?
Thanks
Dan

I think I know what happened to you three. Initially, there were more on the lost to be sent, but Hotmail came back saying that their inbox was full. Stupid hotmail tends to reset emails when you try to send them twice.
That's my only guess....

Oh.

Maybe we'll have to fix that problem.
N/A is what I am looking for as a test car though.

Yeah, I've been meaning to do the swap for the longest time. But it seems like when ever I have some money saved up, something more important seems to come up. Like my brake master cylinder failing in the middle of rush hour! and paying a lot more than I should've paid to replace it.

N/A is what I am looking for as a test car though.
