Engine Problems, Not Blown, But Acts Like It?

ok here the story
changed oil today washed car and washed engine bay
let it idle and it was fine,
then all of a sudden my idle mellows out and sounds like a 3 or 4 rotor car, but it doesnt bounce at all.
it smokes like a chimmny when on the gas, but its fuel smoke.

now ive:
-changed the plugs and leading coil.
-used electrical cleaner on my afm, coils, tps sensor, and 2 secondarys.
-checked spark and ive got it
-and pulled my air filter to see if it was clogged up and its not the problem

what could it be? compression is fine nice strong and even 3 bounces per rotor.
my a/f guage (narrow band) shows lean/ ideal. its prolly wrong but still.

It's possible that you got some electronics wet or something else wet at least. I washed my engine bay on my delsol a few months ago and about 10 minutes after it ran god awful. No acceleration, loud and humming along like it was a strained dog, kept trying to die out and some other symptoms. I pulled the plugs and let them dry overnight, the next day the car ran a bit better but still slight symptoms. After a few days it was completely gone. So my best guess was something got wet

Yeah, get a leaf blower and dry that **** out.

Sometimes, the vaccum soleniods on top of the engine (mini rats nest) have grease built up in the breather, when its hit with water nothing, but with a degreaser and water, it can send some gunk in the line (worst case), or simply cause it to plug up or give poor flow through the little filter material. Real common side effect on gen 1 ratsnest when degreasing the engine bay with spray and a water hose.

Odd chance that a wiring harness connector, or a sensor is water logged too.. pop the hood and sundry it while u breeze it with the leafblower.

I can almost guarantee the plug wires are toast. If you don't remove them when you hose off... water trapped in them can really F them up. I've done it a couple times and it happens almost every time. Luckily, I learned after the fourth or fifth set of new wires.

Well.. that sucks...

I'm pretty sure a bad CAS would throw a code...

I'd start pulling harness plugs, blowing them out with compressed air, and applying dielectric grease pronto... Gives you a chance to inspect your connections anyways.. You should take some video/audio of the thing running.

heres a vid of it running. very hard to start btw. first in the car, then the bay, then the back. it smokes fuel smoke a bit but you cant see it.

im thinking my primary injector for my front rotor is bad. what effect would a low imp. injector (86-87) have in a high imp. car(88)? my only replacement injector is a low. imp

Zip-tie the injectors to the rails, plug them in, then turn the key to the "ON" position. Now pull out the CAS and spin it by hand. You should see the injectors pulsing. If any of them don't look right, then you found the problem. If they are fine, then you can rule that out and go from there.

I would hope thats an injector problem.. it almost sounds like its running on a single rotor in the video. Sometimes on flood outs or cold starts my car is a pain to start and sounds like that for the first few seconds of warm up. You might, just in case, want to do a compression test on the engine as well.. good luck figuring it out.

I'd be taking a HAIR DRYER to the Wires..Seriously..a Hair dryer will Evaporate any water that you may have splashed onto the electronics,or wires ,etc.Check the CAS Cap.unscrew it and see if it is wet, also remove the plugs wires and put them under the Hair dryer. If you are in a Hot Climate, open the Hood and let the sun Shine on it.Leave it a day..to dry out..

ok, my front rotors primary injector is just dumping fuel. no matter which injector i put in there. it sprays for a few seconds after you kill the car too. so any theorys? what could cause my front primary only to do that?
