Engine Power?

Engine Power?

I went to a car show this weekend and i saw another n/a. when i was looking at the dash i saw that it reded at 8K instead of 7K which mine is at. Did he get a new tac or is the 91 more powerful?

The series 5(89-91) cars have a higher redline.

Yea the S5 ('89-91) have higher readlines as well as 14 more horsepower (160 fwhp). But they also weigh more than the S4 ('86-88). They have lighter rotors so they can rev higher w/out damage.

actually this is wrong... lighter rotors make the esentric(whatever) shaft flex at high rpms which is bad.. the stock S4 rotors are optimal for 9000+

The higher redline on the series 5 manual tranny cars is mostly related to the redoing the intake to get rid of the drop in the torque curve at 7500 and a lighter flywheel.

hmmmm...... ok..... plez elaborate. How exactly would light rotors cause the esentric shaft to flex? lets see some sources.

better go check you muffler bearings.

yeah fwhp means front wheel horse power
rx7's are rear wheel drive...
fwhp = flywheel hp
