hi, a friend of mine that i am helping rebuild a s4 NA engine doesnt know what rotor and rotor housing is the rears and the fronts. is there any identifying marks that we can use to put this think back to gether the right way???

 

I'm pretty sure the rotors are the same, the housings are different but I don't know how you tell them apart. I take it he pulled it apart a while ago and didn't mark anything?

 

on the top theres an F or R stamped in the rotor housing

yeah, he cracked it open about 2yrs ago and are now getting back into rebuilding it. we looked on the houseings and couldnt find any identifying marks. the only parts differnt from the two is that we have one that has a bridge on top saying it was made in heroshima, and the other has a lack of the bridge.

if anyone has pictures of the marks and were i can find them that would be the best.

 

look at the EGR ports\ pockets in the rotor housings there will be 1 small hole going up to the exhaust port in each housing... thoes ports need to face the center castiron when it is all put back together..
