Engine Mounts, Suspension, Tire Options? -- Options?

Hey guys, I'm still around. And I got a good paying job to boot. I've got a a few hundred I could put towards the seven every month. Anyhow,

But this thread is about
Enigne Mounts...What do I need? I'd like something sporty. Although vibration isn' a big deal to me, if its massive amounts and completely undesirable, then I wouldn't want it. If its something that I could deal with (mind all the anti-grandma-ablility mods I already have-- like premix and what not) then I might go with solid.

What Tires should I be getting. Mind the springs are said to apply a 1.5" drop from stock. The wheels are 17x7 with 40 offset. What can I get that won't rub?

Do I need the camber adjusters? For the front, I'd just assume get pillow mounts. Can any tire shop adjust alignment with Pillow Mounts, or are they too noobish?

But seriously, what are my options?

Car's Background:

5Spd Swap.
Original Engine, 13B, N/A circa 150k miles. Been waiting for it to die for 5 years now.
Cold Air Intake
TB Mod
E-Fan
E-Aux Ports
Removed Power Steering
Removed A/C
Removed ACV, CAT
Ghetto Exhaust.
410 Rear Dif Swap

Things that I have (or are in transit) to be installed...
New Front Lower Control Arms
Intrax Lowering Springs (1.5" drop) - 4
Tokico Blues Struts - 4
17x7 wheels offset 40
RB Road Race Header

Things I'm considering...
Racing Seats
Roll cage (or bar). (then 5point harnesses).
Full RB Road Race True-Dual System
Front Swaybar adjustable links
Front Pillow Mounts
Rear Camber Adjusters.

I have solid engine and tranny mounts, expect a fair amount of vibration above 50-55mph, its a nice *** massage, though. I daily drive with these, no vibration, at least noticeable, below 50mph so it doesn't bother me.

RX7.com sells some harder rubber mounts that I've heard good things about, however... I'd go with some poly bushings (bonzai racing sells these). They seem like the best compromise for something "sporty" while still being more street friendly.

With a true 1.5" drop and 40mm offset, I wouldn't go wider than 225 especially since your rims are only 7" wide.

Do I need the camber adjusters? For the front, I'd just assume get pillow mounts. Can any tire shop adjust alignment with Pillow Mounts, or are they too noobish?
At a 1.5" drop, the rear will probably need a little camber adjustment, I personally am using the mazdatrix independent rear camber adjusters for mine, work wonderfully.

Front yah pillow ball mounts with camber adjustment would be sweet, also keep in mind that this will lower the front further since the pillow ball mounts are shorter than the stock rubber mounts. Any reputable shop that does camber adjustment should be able to use the camber plates, just show them how it works and they can dial it to whats needed, if they don't already know how to adjust them.

Hope that helps.

Oh, and I forgot to ask, What vendors area available for motor mounts? Rx7.com is one, any others. I always seem to be unable to find them at the shops I've gone through before (corksport, RB, atkins, and Mazda Trix). Did Higgi make some motor mounts at one time? I can't even remeber if he was exporting them into the US though...

EDIT: and what heigth/sidwall for a tire am I looking at?

Well you got rx7.com, other than that is bonzai racing for the poly mounts http://banzairacing.net/

Or you can get scalliwag solid mounts by PMing him or ebay (sometimes). Also another ebay seller makes a solid/hardened plastic mount for engine and tranny, haven't heard anything about those, though http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda...spagenameZWDVW

Sidewall? I'd say 40, 45 might be too tall. Hit up the miata tire calculator (google) to compare versus the stock size.

Engine mounts: Both Banzai http://www.banzairacing.net (Not too sure on the site) and Scalliwag (http://www.scalliwag.com) both sell them. I know if you do a little searching I'm sure you'll find some reviews.

Wheel size I can't tell you, since I don't know **** about suspension really .

And camber plates for the front at least will be needed, due to the stock RX-7 very little camber adjustment upfront. It was recommended to me by RETed (which I hope will chime in if I happen to be wrong).

I hope someone with much more knowledge can help you out.

Good luck!

Mazdatrix has stock and competition motor mounts. I went with the RX7.com mounts but they are not installed yet.

Well I purchased the motor mounts from scalliwag.com. Not sre what the issue was, but I haven't heard anythign and still haven't received the mounts. I emailed and no luck. Paypal is currently pending my refund. I feel kind abad about that because I really wanted the mounts. Is Scalliwag super busy or? Anyone know any other way to get ahold of him?

Otherwise looks like I'll have to get the more banzairacing mounts.

Hmmm, that's too bad. I had no problem getting my mounts from him. He is also on this forum, you could try PMing him I guess.

Rollcage -> search for "S & W Racecars" located in Spring City PA. 6 point rollcage will put you back 170$ w/o shipping. Mine was 205 to my front door. 2 flavors - mild steel and chromoly. Folks are super nice and will answer any question you have. It'll come in pieces, ready to be welded. Mine's sitting in the garage. Need to find a welder.

Corbeau seat will run you around 200+ depending on style. 4 point harness can range from 50-70$. Haven't seen 5 point. Corksport sells 3 and 4. You can even get it from nopionline if you're desperate in getting it.

I don't like any of the alternatives out there that use a bolt and nut straight through the mount itself. This eliminates any flex from tension (i.e. pull), and a question how reliable this set-up is before something fails.

I really like the Mazda Comp units that are "40% stiffer than stock".
I run them, and they do a great job.

I think a 1.5" drop is too drastic.
I'd worry about too much rear negative camber.

You need something to adjust all that excessive negative camber in the rear.
A rear camber adjust rod is popular.

"Pillow mounts" implies no adjustment.
You're talking about front adjustable "camber plates".
A competent shop should have no problem adjusting them to your specs.

For an update,

New suspension is on. I didn't think it dropped any until a week after I put it on and tried to jack the car up. It is definately lower, to the point where my low profile jack no longer fits unde rthe front crossmember.

Anywho, yeah...
