Completely depends on maintenance and how it's driven...pretty much like every other engine.

My 87' T2 made it to 159k on the original motor before it took a nap.

So then what might you get after a rebuild (seals and gaskets, maybe porting)?

If you've got good irons, housings, and rotors, i don't see why the motor couldn't last another 150k+. the key has always been maintenance

A rebuild of a non-blown engine isn't really that big of a deal (meaning no popped seals...just low compression)... although you'd do well to check to make sure everything going back into the engine is within spec.

Even a car n00b can do one in maybe a week or two of work (as long as you don't break anything, lose anything, and it don't do something that would cause it to not run after you put it back in (besides putting it together wrong).

How long an engine will last after a rebuild is really a matter of how many miles are the housings' chrome plating (which only lasts a certain number of miles... probably about 300,000).

This is all assuming you don't suddenly run out of oil, oil pressure, or coolant, and that it's not a modified turbo without enough fuel. And assuming the OMP is working properly.
