Engine length

I need to know how long our engines are from the crank pulley to the flywheel.

Also if anyone knows the length of a 20b I would like to know that as well.

I am thinking about replacing a Chevy motor with an insane rotor motor. And would like to have some lenghts to compare the length of the chevy to.

Thanks

are you putting a rotary in a chevy??

just curious, i think it would be ironic in the fact that everyone flames the people who want to put a V8 in a rx7.

i think if you are going that route then you should find some domestic forum and tell them what you are doing, and see how many flames you get.

sorry but i dont know how long a 13b or 20b is.

I took some rough measurements of my 20B. The length between the front of the water pump housing and the rear of the block is about 21.5". The stock 20B pulleys add another 3.5" or so. I'm not sure about the flex plate because it is long gone from my 20B engine, but I guess the flywheel would add about 2 more inches to the length.

Thanks Evil. I have read that a SB Chevy is ~29 in in length and want to make a real beast, so I want as many rotors as I can get, hehe (hopefully 4 or 6). This sounds crazy, but although this is a dream car I want to make it happen eventually. I believe a BBC has been put in the car I am looking at, so i'm sure that's an extra inch or more. Looks like a six-rotor would be out of the question at close to 40" long so I will probably go 4-rotor (there's no replacement for extra rotors is there? Since we found the replacement for displacement)

Then again just thinking about a six-rotor
insane, eh?

Yes this will take a lot of money, no I don't have the money to even start yet, but it doesn't hurt to dream big

Yeah, so there. I agree. You should discuss it with them first, and then make up your mind.

Anybody? How about the width of a single rotor or rotor housing?

You make that sound about a million times easier than it would be. Unless you'll have $20K+ to develop a single engine, I'd stick to 3 rotor dreams!

But if you do replace a V8 with a 20B, you're a goddam legend!

Heh, do you mean NZ $ or US $? Either way I was looking at ~$25K (US) for the trans and engine combined. The trans will cost about 5K, which leaves 20K for the engine.

NZ$25K won't get you stuff all!

Got to http://www.3rotor.com/jc_4rotor.htm and see this 26B taking shape.
