Engine is on its last legs???

Ok ALL of the symptoms happen only when the engine is cold....15 mins later when its warm at operating temp. it runs and idles perfectly.

When Cold my engine does this:
-Spits of lots!! of blue and black smoke if it revs past 2.5rpm

-Backfires like a **** for no apparent reason

-Stalls at least twice if i try to drive it...so as it revs up and then you let off the gas its like it cant see its idle and just drops to 0 and stalls.

Well, Im thinking its gotta be the engine, I just put in new oil, new spk plugs, new oil filter....Do you think i have a blown apex seal? or oil seal?

do what chris suggested.. compression check... and go from there.. Don't spend ANY more money on it until you do a compression check..

Ok i think obviously cause i need to add a bottle of oil a week that i have one or more of my oil seals gone....Is it bad to run the car with blown oil seals? I always make sure the oil is topped up...Should I be running premix? I havent really lost and complression. Any other tips to help this situation....I have ABSOLUTLY no money for a rebuild...I dont sell drugs to kids like scathcart. :P

Honestly, only Bad maintence leads to this disaster. Bad oil seals are caused by poor oil quality. 3 of the RX-7s I test drove have 200k on them. They run fine with no problems, hot or cold.

Better luck next time when you have your engine fixed!

I used to have to add a bottle of oil to my car every week. How many miles do u log on your car. I used to drive 45 miles to work one way and back and I'd have to add a bottle. Also my car smokes a little when it starts up usually only if its been sitting for 8 hours or more. But I'm pretty sure the engine is ok. I change my oil every 3000 miles... As stated above u should get a compression check to put your mind at ease

Ive owned THIS rx7 for a couple months now...It has 313,000Km's on it and Im pretty sure the engines been rebuilt but i have no proof of that. Apparently 1 owner before me rat bagged it pretty good. Since ive owned it ive made sure everything is tip top and clean and filtered good....

Yeah im in a similar situation, it only smokes when it hasnt been on for 8 hours....and I have NEVER seen the temp guage go past 1/4 so its not over heating and warping or anything...

It pulls good but there is no way it would burn rubber in any gear except 1st....Like I cant rev it up while driving 60km's/h drop the clutch in 2nd gear and lay a patch...can you?

if it is the original motor LOL, I dont know havent raced any other cars in a LONG time cause ive been real careful about my driving habits...but Im looking for a race soon just to see where my cars at...I might race my friends t2 thats just got rebuilt....

300k km? That should explains why your engine is dying!
