Unhappy Engine Fire- resulting In replacment of Front Engine Harness

My car will not start. I was Installing my EB Headlight conversion. After confirming all connections, I made an attempt to turn the Headlights on. I smelt smoke. I'm like wtf???

So I blew It out. (It was coming from the Left EB Harness and the Harness leading to the cluster of relays to the Radiator Deflectors and all 3 Horns). I made an attempt to start the car to no avail.

The Front Harness, Itself, was replaced with a brand new one. I am 100% sure that both racerjason and I, (whom was very Instrumental and had a respectively high tolerance) verified that all connections were Intact.

Despite the replacment of the Front Engine Harness, It seems nothing has changed from when I had the spectacular lightshow 'til now when I make an attempt to start the car. It seems the car wants to run but won't catch.

Could the ECU have gotten fried? I have checked the codes and their clear. Fuel Pump working.

Anyone have any Ideas?

The Headlight Harness Plugs were toasted to begin with.

Yea...I checked the Fuses. Both Main and the Fues box Itself.

I deflooded It, If It was flooded to begin with and changed the Spark Plugs while I was at It. I'm anticipating the ECU to be the culprit and will find out within the next few days. Unless you guys can help me kick start the silver generator.

Update-

Not looking good...

After replacing that Front Engine Harness I:

-Swapped Leading Coil Pack and ECU
-Grounded Fuel Pump and listened for wirling sound.
-Changed Spark Plugs
-Checked for Codes leading to ECU. They lit for 3 seconds and showed no code. This Indicating a response from ECU.

Main Relay Is clicking. The only thing I haven't checked for Is Spark yet. If their Is no spark, what should I look for? Ignition Switch?

Even though my car won't start, I still have all the other functions. *sigh* So I like to think both racerjason and I Installed It correctly, which I'm confident we did.

Ideas, anyone?

I wouldn't speculate the Air Flow Meter to be suspect either. Due to It running of the Engine Harness rather than the former toasted Front Engine Harness.

Success!!! She runs. She really runs.

Right now, It's misfiring like a bitch at Idle. Infact, It wants to die at Idle If I don't hit the throttle. The misfiring gets worst and louder when rpms are Increased. At about 3000rpm's, It doesn't want to go any higher and thats where the somoking and fuel smell at the the Exhaust really gets bad.

I'm positive the Spark Plug wires are connected correctly. I've brought out the Multimeter and verified the Leading/Trailing Coil Packs, Ignition Switch and Crank Angle Sensor are within spec.

To me, It seems my timing or Ignition Is whacked but how can this be after replacing the Front Engine Harness? I mean, my timing, Ignition was top notch to begin with.

hey silver, let me know what you did to get your car started. i have an 88 gxl and also had an engine fire dealing with the front harness. after replacing it my car wont start either. i still havent gotten it to fire. i was told by someone that it might be the timing. thats what i am going to check next. please keep me posted and maybe we can figure this out together. my email is gnubrdr1313@aol.com
