engine check q?

Just wondering, in order to pull the codes from a 91 TII, all the instructions I read say to ground the 1 green plug up front. Do you keep it grounded the whole time (IE stick wire in it to the - of the battery, hop in and turn the key)?

TIA

ground the single green connector near the leading coil. Turn the key and the 'check engine' light will flash the codes. To reset the codes, unplug the POSITIVE terminal on the battery, and depress the brake pedal for a few seconds.

So do you leave it grounded while you are pulling codes?
