Yeah deffinatly hide them. Or if your so inclined you could use an electrical box, where you've soldered in the electrical connections into a nice plug system where if you ever want those features, etc all you'd have to do is take those plugs and run a new wire with a properly fitted connection and it would look amazing, and upgradable. I'll try to find a picture of what i'm talking about if that's too confusing.

here's a link you can check out. These are SIMILIAR to what i'm talking about, however I couldn't find what I was looking for. I met a guy in California who had a military style plug where his harness ran into the firewall. He set it up so he could disconnect the harness from that plug and pull the engine or mess with the cabin (it was an old style truck). which made everything really nice and neat. He said it took him about 10 hours or so to solder everything in. It was well worth it in my opinion and I will probably do it later in the life of my 7.

well you're in luck. I found a smaller version of what that guy in cali did to his truck. here's a link: http://cgi.govliquidation.com/auctio...tionId=1125456 I'm going to be doing some more looking to try and find something

However this is more completly suited for us, and probably alot closer to what he had.

Amphenol makes connectors that will do the trick.
I lucked out and found a bunch at a surplus store and used them (just as you described) to rewire my Z.

Only of the car's exterior, sorry.
This was all done in my pre-digital days....

Edit:
I can tell you that the installation was made much neater by splitting the harness inside the car and running the cables down each side of the engine bay instead of having one big bundle wrapping all around the place.
Naturally, the Z (it was a '71) had a lot fewer wires to deal with too.
