Emmissions removal, remove chuff chuff of solenoids

na s5

after my emmissions removal and the rebuild. I have the 6pi and VDI system solenoids connected right to the air pump, so Ive got a constant chuff chuff chuff chuff comin out as long as the engine is running. any ideas on how I can get rid of it. Landers says to connect them to vacuum, but its unmetered air and I dontknow how that would work...

on the s4 i have a 87 turbo 2 converstion in my 86 SE and how i did it with my block of plates i got T fiittings on from the boost presure sensor and my after market boost gauge and other line in the back of the motor that reads air tucked in the back i cant recall the name of it.but here is a crude drawing if you will.this is how i rewired my lines.

BPS----- T ----- T----- T ---------------to block
BOV

boost gauge

back of block to another vac line i cant remember what it does

When those two systems are not working, the air exits the little air filter on the solenoids.

But on the stock system, the air pressure is'nt that great because most of the air pressure is going into the exaust ports at idle or getting dumped into the silencer in the fender.

So the question is, do you have the airpump outlet blocked off on the whole, causing an excessive air pressure buildup in the two solenoids?

ah so im feeding them too much pressure? I have the outlet on the airpump runing into a hose which is eventually shrunk to vacuum line size, and fed into the solenoids.

what could I do differently without an acv?

k so I talked to Landers, and I've got two lines mixed up. as things will be, until 3800rpm where the ports are opened, I'll constantly be building pressure against the solenoid.

so thats the problem, I've got no ACV thus no excess pressure is being vented off. waddo I do?

Are you sure that's what he said? Because neither of those systems will ever work with vacuum.

To relieve the pressure you need to put a tee in the line with a needle valve on the branch to control how mych pressure is relieved. You need to open the valve just enough to ensure enough pressure is created by 3800rpm (50rpm before the 6PI solenoid opens) for the actuators to work properly (>2psi). You should tee a pressure gauge into one of the actuator lines to set this up properly.

Or you could just put the ACV back on so it works without all that messing around...

the third nipple goes to vacuum, the one that usually has the filter on it. closes em faster.
