emissions probs........still
UGH after spending over 100bucks on testing alone and about 200 on repairs i still havent passed emissions! Ive replaced my plugs, corrected my idle, timing, put back my cat, checked for vac leaks and used some of that "guarenteed to pass" stuff and iim still failing! What could still be wrong with my car? Ive even tried the alch trick and that hasnt worked at all. Im getting a better idle but the car still has a rich smell to it. Im pretty sure my varable resistor is messed up because it will keep on turning andturning and turning with no help.
any help would be great
thanks

Turning that screw isnt going to do anything.. You need to read the section in the FSM about setting your idle mixture. Did you jumper the ISC before you started twiddling with that screw?
Also, post your numbers. That gives us a better indication of what is going on.

I passed it just yesterday even though my cats were almost completely shot, the reason: I have a small vacuum leak that is causing me to run lean...so my best suggestion is to create a small vacuum leak and you should be able to pass the test.

If you have your cat on, and your air pump and air control valve is working, you should pass. If your not passing all I can think of is that your cat is dead.
