Emissions on a fresh rebuild
how well will a fresh rebuild do in an emissions test?
heres the story: the engine died in jan '10 and while i was rebuilding it the registration (and smog cert) came due. i registered it non-op at the time but now i need to get it smogged to get it registered. its got 215 miles and 1 ticket so far....
will it pass emissions ok or should i risk driving it around some more?

In your sig it says you have the stock cat, which I am assuming is the main cat. Do you have an airpump? If the engine was built correctly with decent parts the limiting factor is the emissions equipment more than anything else. Remember that these cars had to meet emissions standards right out of the factory with basically zero miles on them.
If the main cat is oem and in good shape, and you get it hot enough, it will do fine with the airpump and acv working.

are you driving the car while it's registered as PNO? get a temp registration pass and put some miles on it with all smog equipment installed. temp sticker will still bring cops but atleast you're not running as PNO, so no ticket.

i will throw all three cats back on for the test itself. all smog eqiup including the cats are in good shape to the best of my observations. and yes ive been driving it on PNO, and the ticket was really my fault, i drove through the downtown area late on a sat night :P i REALLY dont wanna go to the dmv for the temp registration either, ours is notorious for long *** lines. i guess i really just have to worry about the street port passing then...
