is your exhaust a 2.5 or 3 inch? If it's 2.5, you can use a '84 mustang turbo cat. they're pretty much hi-flow....no sense in buying a 400 dollar hi-flo when you can get the mustang one for about 150 bucks....

Are you surprised by this reading or something? My rx7 blew 1500 HC's with RB collected header/presilencer and RP catback the day I bought it. Without a cat, you'll never pass, or even come close. Even with a cat you have to set it up properly to pass, ie your emissions components are present and functioning properly or you have the airpump going straight to the cat.

 

Why would you even waste money trying to smog it without a cat?

 

Me or him? I had mine done for free at a shell gas station garage by my house because at the time I didn't know it was catless (this was after the drive home from just buying it). I just wanted to see what was going on.
