You can just remove it, swap on a dual belt alternator pully and block off the ACV.

Just jumper the connector for the missing ACV solenoid(s) with a 52 ohm resistor.

Without the air pump belt the stock fan pulley will slip.
Options are a yoohoo belt, a double alternator pulley, or an electric fan.

(BTW Aaron's right about keeping the stock fan if possible & driving it with a double alt pulley & belts.)

Isn't the Air Pump needed for for the VDI in an S5? If it is, how would you go about getting around that without the Air Pump?

People use an RPM activated switch and some other random goodies. Do a search, its all here for the taking.

I've never heard of the resistor on the connector.... whats the purpose. But then again, all my solenoids are gone from my emissions and rats nest removal.

5th and 6th ports.

Variable Dynamic Intake or something along those lines.

SO since you have a 4 port turbo you don't have to worry about it, it's only for NA's.

If the car was NA, this would matter.

ive never heard of this either. ive got a S4 T2, removing the air pump and ACV....was just going to throw one of my block off plates on there. does this resistor fix only apply to S5?

Wow, I was wondering why my belt kept slipping when I removed my air pump belt!!! And I do have an dual alternator pulley that I found in my old turbo car...so you just run two of the same alt/water pump belts? Also, how can I eliminate the pipe that goes back to the exhaust? I am installing a RB header on my car and I would really like to take the time to get rid of this pipe...

Yeah the pressure from the air pump is what engages the VDI solenoid at around 6,000 rpms. If you don't have the pump, then you will loose hp above this RPM. I am going to be putting a S5 UIM on my S4 in the coming weeks so I have got to figure out a way that I can make it work, since my S4 doesn't have the wire coming from the ECM to tell the VDI to engage. I have read that you can use a power lumbar air pump from a Ford car to replace the pressure needed to engage this solenoid, and that you can wire it up to a RPM activated switch that you can buy from summit for like 50 bucks or something along those lines.

There is an extensive write up on this, but I don't have the link on it at the moment.
