Electrical question, something the previous owner did?

Electrical question, something the previous owner did?

Hi guys, long time...no post.

So here is a picture of something the previous owner (one of them at least) did. I do not knw what this is or what it does OR if it is even right anymore. Notice the RED wire doesn't go anywhere and I don't know if it should.

Help is very much appreciated. :-)

That looks like one of those Ebay resistor scams. Remove it from the IAT sensor wire, and splice that black wire back together.

I removed it, it seems about the same without it.
I will keep recording my fill ups and see how it affected my gas mileage.
