Exclamation Electrical Problem has me fed up !!! '88 Vert No Lights

I need help with an electrical problem on my vert.... you know of anyone that is good

These are my symptoms:

Since I bought the vert two years ago the turn signals work when the parking lights are off .. when i press the brake pedal they stop blinking.

When my headlight is on my turn signals do not work at all.. so driving at night becomes a problem because people here in Miami love to tailgate or dont know what a safe following distance means.

- When my headlights are on and I turn the ignition off the engine will not shut down unless i turn off the lights.

- Lately I have fried two sets of Headlight switches on the surround cluster and its always the same two wires on the personality plug: The Red this wire w/ black stripe and the one next to it which is a beige wire w/ green stripe. The fuses are all fine.

But now my new problem is I can turn on the parking lights and headlights while the car is turned off (ignition off) and i have to flip the high beam lever to get them to turn on but once i press the brake pedal to stop all the lights turn off... and they wont turn on again unless i turn the ignition off and restart the process....

You can imagine the mission driving back home from Amelia Earhart Park Sunday night.. I had no lights all the way back to Kendall...

I have been waiting on Phil for over 4 months to do the work on my car but he is always too busy after all he was the previous owner of my vert.... and I need someones help...
Someone who is pretty handy with this sort of stuff..

My email is: zondervanRX7@yahoo.com

My phone number is: 786-286-3351

You've got (a) short(s) somewhere. Have a good time finding them. Check for voltage drop across all connections involved in the circuit, or check resistance...WITH CAR OFF, or you'll fry your meter. Through multiple tests you should be able to find where your car is ******* itself.

Get your hands on the FSM, learn to read wiring diagrams if you don't already know how, and get to work.

Good luck,
James

PM me if you want any help.

check brake switch..check wiring to lights ..you said that you replaced the head-light switch twice and now you have a new problem..(that one is probably fried too..check that too)..if you are going to be using a meter on the resistance setting(ohms),I would be disconnecting battery first..check the bulbs..particularly the ones that have more than one filament ..they can short out inside the bulb itself. I've seen a bad bulb do some funky stuff....Question..do your lights go out only if you hit the brakes?..(brake switch) ..couple of ideas anyways..check the light relays too..good luck
