electrical issue, no headlights

When I flip the headlight switch, the lights dont come up, and they don't turn on. The interior lights do dim though, so the switch must be working.

However, the lights will pop-up and retract when the retract button is turned. Looking at the wiring diagram, it seems like the switch is the only thing connecting the lights to the retractor motor, so the switch must not be working. Am I reading the diagram wrong, or is it possible for the switch to dim the interior lights, but still be broken?

If all your fuses are good ("head" and "retract" are in the engine compartment fuse box), then the next most likely suspect would prolly be that switch/ harness...

the fuses are all good, guess its time to dig into the switch and harness. Its just strange that the lights do dim when the switch is on, but nothing else happens.

The interior lights are dimmed through a seperate set of contacts in the cluster switch, it's fed by the 15A ILLUM fuse.

The set of contacts in the switch we're concerned with are fed from the headlight relay coil (the relay is in the front left of the engine bay, among the cluster of relays there, if you want to try to hear it click). There are some diodes internal of the switch that evidently burn out, allowing current flow from the HEAD circuit to fry the switch contacts & harness connections.

You need to get with Icemark, he's the headlight switch guru...
