Electric Fans?

Hey guys,
I was thinking of upgrading my fan to some electric ones but some people have told me it is a waste of money and others have told me that its 100% worth it. So since im getting mixed answers from my friends i thought i would ask some real car enthusiast.
Is it worth it or not?
and if it is what are some good fans? (brands, sizes)

BTW i have a 1990 turbo2 that this would be going on if it matters?

Rule of thumb:

Put an electric fan is ONLY if space is an issue. If you can run the stocker, do it.

there are about 100 million threads on this. search for e-fan.

Some of us have had success with Fiero e-fans, or any other Gm fan. Do your research and make sure you get a fan that has enough CFM to keep your engine cool. Usually, you go to e-fan when the stocker fails OR if you can find one for free.

I have not encountered any "space" issues with the rotary engine as of now. The engine bay looks nicer without all that clutter but other than that I can't think of any other reasons to go out and buy an e-fan.

edit: maybe if you upgrade you radiator to a larger Koyo or similarly thick unit. In either case MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT FAN OTHERWISE YOU'RE COMPROMISING COOLING!

how do you find the right fan? by searching and seeing what the majority of the members here use, but make sure to search for other threads by the same members regarding any possible overheating issues they MAY have had with these fans. Again, I'd recommend a Fiero e-fan.

Well, when you start running setups like mine, you know like making REAL horsepower, space becomes a premium.

I run E-fans because I have to, not because I want too.

As others have said, this comes up constantly. It's covered in the FAQ, and loads of info is available via the search.

it's not worth it; search for Aaron Cake's write-up on this. it's actually less efficient in most/all cases.
