elec probs? Totally confused now

So all this time I thought my cats were clogged it turns out my battery is dead. So the car wont start... I took it to my uncles and had it charged for a bit and that brought it back to life one more day.. and yesterday Ironically enough I took it out of my car and put it into this other guys guy cuz his battery died to help him start his car, and when I put it back in my car, the car seemed to run better. And my CLOCK WORKED! So im off to buy a new battery... and its jsut any old battery will work right? I mean as long as the connectors are in the same spot yada yada... and how exactly do I know if it is my cats that are clogged? And is gutting them any good? Is it gonna affect the way the car runs.. I drove home from school with just the header and man did the car run liek ****.

Yes, just make sure it is the same CCA and size and posts and it will fit
and how exactly do I know if it is my cats that are clogged?
Pull them off and look
And is gutting them any good? Is it gonna affect the way the car runs..
Is this an NA? I can't see your sig in the reply area. If so, gutting it will help if the cat is clogged but for best performance you will want to replace the cat or straight pipe it.

yea HOLY LOUD IS RIGHT BATMAN! Its an NA. I just got back from Autozone and bought a new battery. Everything seems to be good now. And the clock stays... Im stills cared theres some strange elec prob. I have had the car since Nov and it never worked. Now it does? and my dome lights used to work. But now they dont? So if there is a link to a post explaining this that would be cool.. if not, how do I check if theres a short or something else is wrong. Donk I have the choice, gut them and do it for free.... or have my cuz weld me up some straight pipe which wont be free but the work will be free. Jsut not the parts. Suggestion?
