EGT sensor...
I read in another thread that the temp readings on an egt differ depending on where you put it... is there a "standardized" place to put the sensor? and if so, are there ballpark numbers that it should be reading?

If your car is a turbo, then you would want to place it around the same location as the o2 sensor, or anywhere close up to the turbo. If your car is N/A...i would probably put it where the two pipes connect so that you're getting an average reading of both rotors.

As close to your exhaust ports as possible. What good are EGT readings after theyve had a chance to cool down? If you have a N/A, I wouldnt even worry about an EGT, if you have a turbo, it needs to be mounted, on the manifold, inbetween the turbo and the exhaust ports.

As far as I understand, your EGT is a clue to your air to fuel ratio. That being said, I myself dont think I would use one on a car that isnt heavily dependent on air to fuel ratio. The N/A's are pretty bulletproof, and If I had one, id put in oil pressure, water temp, and fuel pressure probably.

Irregardless, na or not, an EGT Gauge proves effective to monitor your cat If It Is plugged or close to near It but for me, I got one on my na b'c of my S-AFC.
My air flow Is very leaned out. So having an EGT Gauge provides assurance just In case the settings get out of whack or something to the like. If I didn't have the S-AFC, I probably wouldn't have spent all that money on It.
