we have egr valve? LOL ?

you need to clean it slowly in a parts cleaner.

sure you can spray carb cleaner but it will cost you an arm and leg.

if you are taking the engine apart to rebuild, one of the steps is to clean everything, therefore yes, clean it and it will be good. both parts cleaner and parts washer will work.

Edit: I must of misread, i think you are trying to clean just the EGR valve. In that case, do not submerge it in parts cleaner. Use a small hard wire brush and parts cleaner in the hole where its carboned up. The EGR valve has a diaphram that can be damaged with parts cleaner (if soaked in it), but getting a little here and there won't hurt it, just don't submerge it for days. The wire brush will knock most of the stuff off.

a can of brake cleaner, a pick set and a small wire brush. spray it using the straw and let it soak in for a few seconds, then use a pick to remove the large chunks or the wire brush for the really stuck on stuff.
