EGR Solenoid Valve Question
I am looking for the EGR Soleniod Valve on my car. My EGR came to me not connected to the solenoid valve. I wish to remove the EGR and the solenoid and block off the EGR. But I am not sure where the valve is. It looks like It shoudl be on the drivers side?
I just noticed it wasn't connected to anything when I was looking around tonight. I am somewhat concerened that it is just open to the air currently.

That should be the rack that has all those hoses going to them. Those seleniods with round color coded sticker on them....
If you like, I could take a picture of the rack for you a little later when I get back from the store.

If that is correct, then If I try and follow the hard line I lose it somewhere under the UIM. where does it come out? On the firewall side I have 2 hard lines coming out the used to be hooked up the area right above the ACV. I have a bad feeling who ever put this thing back together before I had it may have had things a little messed up. The car runs well. IDLE is a little lumpy sometimes, but not bad.
I have removed the Air Pump, ACV, Ported the Intake. I have RB headers and a presilencer. So I figured the next step (that I should have done while the intake was off) is to remove the EGR and associated vaccum lines and solenoids. I will read up again on the vaccum spider stuff, but any other info you guys may have is well apprectiated.
For instance, if I just cap off the EGR for now, and wait till the weekend should that cause any problems? Or should I remove it and make a block off plate before driving again. Since I have been driving quite a bit the the ERG just sucking air directly from then engine bay capping it off seems liek a fine thing to do. Comments?

where does it come out?
If you're talking about the egr vac hose, it doesn't "come out" anywhere.
it goes to the egr that is on the intermediate housing (middle iron) and that is underneeth the UIM.
And just out of curiousity, why would you want to take out the EGR? Yeah you'd want a block off plate if you removed it, but you're not going to see any meaningful Hp gains by removing it. In fact you might cause yourself a bigger headache trying to tune it once you remove all that stuff.

Mostly I do not think it will give any power. From what I have read it will not do much of anything if it is working properly, but if it isn't then various idling problems and small power problems may result. Since I have no other emmisions equipment on it just seems liek it will clean up the engine even more to remove it.
Mostly I am worried about the tube that comes OFF the EGR. As of last night I noticed that it was open to the world. I assume that tube is supposed to go SOMEWHERE. So I am trying to figure that out. After I figure that out I will decided if I want to remove the EGR or not.

Previously that tube was just going out to a hose that just ended up in the middle of the engine bay.
So, Where is it supposed to go!!!?!?!?

if memory serves that has something to do with the cold start assist. Mazda discontinued it because it was next to wrothless. Coolent actually flows through that thing as its hose goes to that coolent bottle that's on the passenger side of the engine bay. (that is, if you still have the bottle, sometimes people take them out)
But that's not an egr.

TEMPLESWAIN is right. That's not a EGR. That is the valve for the Cold Start System. The EGR is under the dynamic champer/throttle body. You HAVE to remove that in order to get to the EGR valve. The EGR solenoid is Yellow in color....but me thinks you are not looking for the EGR valve.
The COLD START SYSTEM is covered in detail the online fsm. Pictures and all. Its free. Low cost free fsm with pictures. That's close to paying nothing. No tax either unless downloading in Vermont or Mass.

Well, damn. I did look in the FSM. For some reason I though that WAS the EGR, not the Sub-Zero Assist junk. That would explain my problem trying to figure what the hell it is. I am still pretty new to this stuff.
I should have started with a picture!
Thanks everyone!
