Egi Fuse #2
Egi Fuse #2
As some of you may know I had all this problem with egi blowing all the time. I followed the directions of HAilers, NZ, and Wayne.
Still haven't found the short. I got my new water pump a couple of days ago and installed it today. Drove it around and the EGI didn't blow. Not only did I unplug-and replugged the connectors to look for the short, I also wiggled all the wires too. Nothing.
???
However when I was in in there putting the waterpump in I noticed that my master cylinder is leaking. Its crappy at the base and when wiggled side to side you can actually see brake fluid seeping down. Under driving conditions, it would seem that it would leak a lot worse.
The master cylinder is right above the harness connectors for the circuit opening relay and another connector that I'm not quite sure what it is.
So now I'm wondering. Is it possible that brake fluid conducts electricity, or could spill on those connectors causing the EGI to blow?
Since the master cylinder is dry (at its lowest fluid point)
right now, it seems to be running just fine no shorts.

unless the brake fluid is actually forming puddles somewhere that the connectors are immersed in, I don't see the fluid causing it...there will be no appreciable pressure at the resevoir base seals even while driving- it'll probably leak worse when you're "wiggling" it than at any other time (time to fix it, regardless)...if the fuse hasn't blown for a while, consider it fixed, since that circuit's juiced the entire time the car is running...
