ECU timing mods
ECU timing mods
Ive had my car carbed for a while with a Mikuni on a 13b 6port and I never have any problems and it revs great through the whole RPM range. While searching for something I came across someone saying that the timing is wrong from the stock ECU after you convert it to carb. Everything seems fine to me but if I can squeeze some more power out with a modified or different ECU Id do it. I have a Jacob FC 1000 hooked up but the rest of the ignition is stock. I know you can send your ecu out to get fuel management things changed for more power but is there one for spark or timing? Oh, its a s4 SE with a s5 block stock port

So Ive been running with the timing based off of RPM only and not load. So hooking up the afm is all I should do? My harness has been cut in places so I hope I can find everything or run new wires right from the ecu. Where is the AFM? Also if Im forced to switch to a dizzy how would this be different then the way it is now, with the timing based off rpm only?
Does afm mean mass airflow meter because thats definatly not hooked up because I switched to carb. Please dont tell me I have to put that big dumb airbox back in my beautiful engine bay.
obviously not with the airbox on it but, the maf cant be used with a carb. What are my options? It handles hills fine and always drove good should I just leave it or am I missing out on alot of power under load?
Will it be a noticible difference? Can I still have my FC1000 hooked up? Does anyone have a link on how to do the conversion? Does MSD or some other aftermarket conmpany make one rather than using one that old? Thanks for all the help man

From what Im reading I found there is a way to retard or advance the timing by moving the CAS. Is there a proc dure to do this somewhere? The car runs good I have no complaints but if its better in any way for the engine to move the cas then Ill do it. Thanks Aaron

I believe the only way to adjust the timing by adjusting the CAS itself is to restab it, which would change the timing all the way accross the board, which I think is a bad thing.
