ECU question FAMC

Ok, so I order a jspec engine, with tranny, ECU and wiring harness. I get the engine, seems ok, the boost sensor came with it along with a Knight Sports FCD, a cool little bonus. But the ECU is missing. So I call up the company and told them that the ECU was missing and they said "no prob" and sent one to me. I just now got it, but it's not quite what I expected. On the ECU there three sets of stickers, one small set says "FAMC", 2nd set says "FAMSPEED", the last sticker looks like the one on my old ECU except it says N374. I expected an N370 ECU. Anyone know what this ECU is for? Maybe an FD?? More important, will it work with an S5 engine? The casing is kinda beat up, is there anyway to test an ECU outside the car? Thanks!

N374 same a N370, just the J Spec equivalent. No problem in a TII S5. No way of checking without installing. Some of teh aftermarket companies that sell ecu's at one time would do a check on the ecu, but I don't believe any provide that service any more.

I did some research and found out that FAMC FAMSpeed seems to be an aftermarket parts company. Assuming the ECU came with the car, I wonder what other modifications to the engine are likely to be found? I assume the ECU comes in a "kit" that includes other components, or is it likely to be a stand alone mod? What performance enhancements are done to ECUs?

Problem with an ECU that's been modified, one doesn't know what mods are needed on the car for the reprogrammed logic. It might have been programmed for just an intake and exhaust, or it may have been programmed for larger secondary injectors. No way to tell.
Usually they will increase the boost, add more fuel, adjust timing and boost at the limits, and remove fuel cut. Don't forget the fuel pump upgrade.

Since I can tell the engine has been mod'ed( Knight Sports FCD and alt pulley). I'm hoping the ECU came with the engine. The fuel pump appears to be stock. I plan on pulling the turbo off. The people that took the engine out took a torch to the turbo studs that connect to the downpipe( need to remove and add new studs). While I have it out, I'll check to see if it's stock(how?). I suppose I can check the injectors too. Anything else I should check? Thanks again!

get a pic of a stock turbine, then look at yours. take a look at the number on the injectors c if their stock. Worst comes to worst, you can sell that ecu on ebay and buy a stock one, put a rtek in it.
