My 87 TII still has the original ECU and it is labeled exactly the same as yours, except it says "EGI" instead of "ECI". I have no idea what "EGI" stands for, but I'm guessing your unit is the original, or an exact replacement.

Edit: Just to be perfectly clear, my ECU number is N332 18 881. The car was manufactured in March '87.

"EGI" (Electronic Gasoline Injection) is what Mazda called their early EFI systems. It's actually cast into the top if the intake plenum on a few Mazda engines including the GSL-SE's 13B ("RE-EGI").

EFI/EGI (electronic fuel injection) refers to the complete system. The ECU (electronic control unit) is the EFI system's control box. The ECU is what you'll be sending away...

Yes. That whole unit that you've been describing is your ECU. A small metal box, about 7x7x2, with a flat cover on the front and back, a bracket at each end, and three yellowish-green connector sockets at the bottom.
