Ebay AFM Adapter vs. HKS Adapter

Is there any advantage of the HKS adapter at $25 plus or does the ebay one for $11 work just as well? I did a search on this but didnt come up with any real answer. I personally dont think it will make much of a difference being it is a small part that isnt going to be taking any abuse or anything. I also do understand that i will need to make a CAI box to seal off my cone filter from the heat of the engine bay.

I have used the ebay one for over 2 years and had not problem with it. Im sure the hks one is made of a slightly better material and says HKS on it. But all your really doing is attaching a cone filter to it. Its not anything major such as a electronic, or internals etc. But I would get a different cone filter for it. You can get a K&N cone from kragen for about $50

another option is the K&N kit.. which is a HUGE adapter plate with a mini venturi design to fit a huge filter. Will it be better? no say.. but K&N wont release a FIPK kit if it doesnt net a hp gain. but seeing your considering an ebay adapter, i doubt your gonna want to spend the money on it.

Some ebay adapters though might be plastic...

I though about it but it is a little pricey not to come with some sort of heatshield.

Whoa.... HKS adapter and a Mariah Cold Air box? That sounds like the best way to spend a lot of money for nothing. I'm sorry if I sound rude, but I think a "cold air intake" is a semi-worthless mod. The biggest benefit of ditching the stock intake is that the stocker is somewhat restrictive. I have my air filter right on my turbo's compressor housing, sucking in hot-*** air that just went through the radiator. My intercooler keeps my intake temps between 37-50c depending on outside air temp. For how much the HKS and Mariah will cost, you could probably buy a great intercooler that will do you a lot more good.

Is this a turbo or NA car anyways? I guess I hadn't considered that at first. If it is NA, then this is an even worse waste of money. Unfortunately, NA RX-7's are not fast. You could spend that cash on a turbo engine, or even suspension mods that will make your car faster on the track than a "cold air intake"

ive seen both. the hks adapter that came with my intake was cast and much heavier/thicker than the ebay one. it shouldn't really matter which one you use though.
