Easy Mods to a 87 S4

Im looking to make my car a little faster/quicker. Its a 87 S4. It already has a full GReddy exhaust and two of the butterflies are removed. What other easy things could I do that are cheap the could be done in my garage?

Thanks, Connor

Cheap? lol.

Here's some ideas...

A reliable turbo kit based off the stock TII setup-$700 if you do it yourself

Ported n/a motor- the cost of a rebuild $800+

Nitrous-$400

The n/a motors are near the top of their stock-port potential out of the factory. So they don't respond well to simple bolt ons...

Talking

I have a 88 s4 na I've ported it and put a hks intake and light wieght flywheel with a good racing clutch and a true duel exhaust racing beat header and muffler also have solid mount all around with a koyo rad and electric fans and its pretty quit.

I've been all over a clk 230 (don't remember) it was a smaller 2 seater BENZ. But it was a "BENZ" and I was all over that ****. He couldn't get away from me!! Hahaha mother sucker.

Also have taking on the late 80s to early 90 corvetts with not problem.

I'm thinking soon a nice aftermarket standalone copmuter. I'm probably going for a s4 turbo swap once the computer is in my hands!

But to be honest with you I got all my aftermarket goodies for CHEAP. (Craigslist and ebay)
Just have to keep your eyes peeled! Ie: BRAND NEW sainless steel true duel racing beat mufflers for 200 bucks for both still in the bubble wrap...craigslist. header racing beat duel road race for 140 buck craigslist again! Just those parts alone is well over 500 plus shipping from racing beat. I got it for 340 bones!! Booya!!!!

ALSO make sure you 5 & 6 ports are opening I know after a long period of time they get all kind of build up from carbon or just been old but they will stick and be hard to open up. They should open pretty smoothly by hand.

Look to the left side of the engine. Right above the headers you will see this thing lol that moves if you push down on it. There should be 2. Its the only "thing" that moves if you push down on it. If it rotates smoothly then they should work. You can also try reving the engine to see if it moves. Sorry couldnt find any pics

S4 Port actuators do not actually move under the car is under load.(unless you press them to see if the actuator is not seized.
So what you can do is grease the actuator rods,go for a drive and see if they did move,By looking to see if the grease is "slathered up" on the rod.
and If they did, they are working.

Ive read on several posts that people say the S4's ports wont open unless its under load. Ive had them open on mine without being under load. I have done it to a few S4's and they werent under load. They just wont open like they should at 3800 but they will open in the higher range.
