Easier to replace fan clutch or to switch to electric fan?
Hello! My fan clutch has been spinning at the same speed as the rpm making a whooshing sound its really annoying. I'm pretty sure it is stuck/gone out?. I was wondering if it'll be easier to switch to a electric fan or just replace the fan clutch I heard different opinions about both. also if it is easy to switch to efan can someone link me a tutorial on how to do it thanks

its very easy to replace the fan clutch with another unit, id just find someone selling a whole fan with the clutch part. its just 4 10 mm nuts, and its off, you don't even have to remove the shroud, or belt really, be careful not to round off the nuts tho.
an efan requires mounting it to the radiator, and then something to control when it turns on so its a bit more involved, if your cars all stock I don't see much point upgrading...

The stock thermoclutch never fully locks or unlocks, so it's hard to easily tell if it's good or not.
Replacing the stock part is definitely the simplest way to go but IMO, an efan is far superior.

Could someone argue you could put in an efan just as easily as replacing a stock part? Maybe. It would be a stretch, but it would definitely be a hack job. To do a proper job on an efan conversion takes a little more thought and effort than removing and replacing 4 nuts and a clutch fan.

There was a thread where someone just attached an electric fan to the existing shroud and then removed clutch, fan, and just ran the water pump pulley. I don't know about diameter of fans and CFM but this seems to me to be the simplest. It believe cutting of both pieces was required but cutting plastic isn't that hard.
