E-shaft still good ?
Trending Topics
Steel has to get around 500 degrees F before it will turn blue like that. If that happened while your engine was running, a slightly discolored e-shaft would be the least of your problems.
The discoloration you see is a byproduct of the hardening process the e-shaft went under as it was being manufactured by Mazda.

The E-Shaft is fine. Here is a pic of another one pulled from a engine that ran great and had about 110k on it.
It's quite big so im going to leave it as a click link.

Now its time to think should I re-use it.
Simply because the engine I'm building are 95% brand new parts except the rotors (so far), even the rotors I sent it off to have new bearings install.
so ... if I re-use it, hmm, I have to send the stationary gear out as well and press new bearings in ... hmm ...

I guess "maybe" I should just re-use all the rotating assembly ... with new bearings of course.
