Question E-shaft question

When rebuilding an engine, does the E-shaft have to be sent out to be machined? I didn't think so, but my know it all buddy who's calling it a cam says he had to when he worked in a shop. I, personally, think he's wrong, as I have proved him wrong numerous times before when concerning the rotary. Lemme know. Thanks.

HA HA, thanks a lot. I just IMed him that. I thought that if you needed a new E-shaft you needed a new engine, and, if you get a new engine, it normally comes with an E-shaft He's now in the process of trying to prove you and me wrong. Man, he's a good kid, I just wanna drop a brick on his head sometimes. Anyways, thanks for the help.

No way. You check the run out and the bearing journal diameters to spec. If they are in spec, the ends are not fudged up and the color of the shaft is not blue you use it, if any of the above mentioned items are bad, you have a paperweight.

There is no machining to be done on the eccentric.
