E-Fan wiring question. (specifically fiero)

what would be the downside to wiring the fan to be on all the time when the ignition is on? I don't plan on driving the car in the winter, so warm up time isnt neccesairly something i would worry about.
i'm not too keen on going out and buying extra sensors and whatnot... wiring all that up... BOO!!!
Too lazy. :P

My friends gxl is like this. The stock electric pusher fan comes on when you turn the key. I checked my harness for the fan connections but my car doesnt have them. I also wanted to know how to do this. BUMP!

Fan life, it is an electric brush motor, so it will not last as long. Also, alternator drain, the FC alternators aren't all that strong in the first place. Anyway, if you are gonna run the electric fan all the time, why not just use the stock fan? It runs all the time, puts no load on the alternator, is much more reliable, and no wiring is needed.

I just did my e-fan mod this week. I put on a new battery and terminals as well as a dual groove alternator pulley at the same time(removed air pump). Aftyer one day of running the car around in the heat(85*) stop and go in and out of stores and **** the battery began to die rather quickly and by the time I got home it would barely hold a charge. So I got the adjustable thermostat from autozone($18) and it works great now, only cuts on at 1/2 on teh temp gage and cuts back off at 1/3. IT runs about half of the time now instead of all the time, and at highway speed it doesnt need to run anyway.

You'll dramatically shorten the life of the fan, you'll be overtaxing the already weak charging system, and since it's running all the time it will actually be using more power than the stock clutch fan (which engages only as needed), so it'd be a complete waste of time.

How come everyone keeps confusing what the fan does with what the thermostat does?! The fan is only there for when there's not enough airflow from forward motion to cool the radiator. It's the thermostat that allows your car to warm up quickly and maintain an ideal temp.

It's only a fan, there's really not much too it...
