E-Fan Question?
Is it ok to hook up the fan so that it's running constantly? Would this eliminate the need for a fan thermostat, and excess wiring? Is there any downside to doing this?

I run a Ford 3.8 Taurus fan in my 2.2L Chevy S10 and it runs ALL THE TIME...I have no electrical problems, and the motor revs a whole lot faster now.
*edit* added word fan

^^^ That's what I was thinking. I know there would be a little more electrical strain of the car, but I hope to be upgrading to the FD alternator in the near future. I figure it would take the physical load off of the engine which would be more of a benefit anyways. I more less wanted this mod, to clean up the engine bay a little more as well.

That would prolly work best I think..There is a great write up for the S-10 pickups...the mounting wouldn't really apply to your application, but the wiring is the same, and I'm sure that would help you.

Hope that helps.

Thanks people. But I really want to run it off of an ignition source, that way there is less chance of switches failling, or forgetting to turn it on/off. Yes I am a simpleton!!!

I run mine off the fuel pump circuit...When the fuel pump cuts on it triggers the fan to come on...fan doesn't run unless the engine is running...you will want to put a small resistor inline so that you don't get any "backflow" of electricity through the pump circuit.
I personally have a 2 speed fan and the 1st speed is on ALL THE TIME, and the second speed hits when the A/C compressor turns on...great for summertime..PIA for the winter (A/C comp runs when defroster is on in my truck)
Might not be the best way like I said, but it works failry well.

I have my fan on constantly and it has been like that for a while and I have not had any problems with it.. I need to wire it up to my haltech though so it will switch off when not needed.

That Is for AAS. Hence, Automatic Adjustable Suspension. It Is found on both shock towers. Mazda fitted these plugs on ALL 7's b'c It was convenient to do so. Obviously, all of them don't have this feature.
This plug Is great for 12 Ignition sources. With a 1/4" spade, plug Into the center pin closest to the pull tab. I use both of them, as sources, on my car.

A manual switch is not a very clever idea because one day you will forget to turn it on. It's human nature. Get a thermoswitch for it and wire it up properly. The wiring is very simple and easy to do.
