E-fan options

I've been looking at the e-fan upgrade, and have heard quite a few different ways to go. I know of the Taurus, Fiero, and Pontiac 6000 fans, and there's aftermarket ones too. Which one has the best shroud setup? Which one will push the most air?

Have you looked at the e-fan related links in the FAQ? This has been covered about 10,000 times this year already.

I have FD fans on my setup because i am running an oddly sized AFCO radiator. If you have a stock radiator or direct replacement that will allow you to run the stock fan and shroud, do that, it works very well.

At zero static pressure. its probubly around 2600 right now if its not on a shroud.

Aaron, make a Sticky in big bold letters that says. "SEARCH".

to the OP. Take a look at the link in my Sig. You can also get info from Aarons site which is also linked from my page below.

it has the direct surround around the blades but not a larger shroud.. I never see temps over 1/4 which puts it at just as effective as the stock clutch fan was

Well, I remember reading about a Black Magic fan that was supposed to be the best since the shroud for it was perfect, and it had a built in thermostat, and it was supposed to cool better than the stock clutch fan. I know the built in thermostat would be very key to have since you only want the fan to run at low speeds or idle and shut off once the car is moving. There's just so many options I didn't know which was the best route to go....

Do we have to go through this again? There is no "cooling better then the stock fan". At idle and low speeds, the engine represents a very small heat load. Any fan that can move the appropriate amount of air will be fine. Engine temperature is set by the thermostat and not the fan. At higher speeds, natural airflow through the rad does the job so the fan is not even being used.

Follow those instructions and your decision has been made. No sense wasting thought process on it when someone else has already done the legwork.

Alright, I read through your link about the myths of an electric fan, and found it useful. I still want to go with an electric fan after reading it. For fan choice, I am leaning towards the Black Magic 150 because it has a shroud that almost perfectly fits the 2nd Gen, has a built in thermostat, and pushes enough CFM to cool the motor. Besides this fan, are there any others that possess these qualities?

Yea, of course I've also read the Taurus, Fiero GT, and Pontiac 6000 fans work too. My reasoning for wanting the Black Magic 150 is because it has the thermostat built in, along with a shroud that almost perfectly fits the FC radiator, and will push more than enough CFM to cool the car. Are there any places to buy the Black Magic fans besides Summit?

Most any speed shop can order the Black Magic if they don't stock it.

It's a good fan, but sounds like a hurricane when it runs.
