Depending on where you go with the rebuild, probably 600-800 if you do a bare bones rebuild with your own labor.

Do the labor yourself if you have time, the engine itself is not complicated if your careful and thorough. If you dont, only get a good reputation rotary shop do the work, dont trust ANYONE that is not a dedicated shop rebuilding your engine.

The engine sounds flooded. Do a search on unflooding it.

A compression check will let you know if the engine needs to be rebuilt. But you need to get it unflooded first.

Read the FAQs.

The gas smell in the oil is normal. All engines tend to get gas mixed into the oil over time, the 13B just does it faster. Time to change the oil.

Good luck,

lol.. My 7 floods almost constantly if I don't keep it tuned up. replace the spark plugs as well when you go to try and start this car, If the engine is good, It should start much easier if you do this. Good luck man, and good buy!

See my sig. for good info.

I once bought an RX-7 with my cousin with similar symptoms. Contrary to all logic to us at the time (because the spark plugs were full of fuel), the problem ended up being the solenoid (fuel-injector) resistor mounted under the air filter box. One of the primary injectors wasn't firing. Moral of the story - follow the troubleshooting guide, don't skip anything, and check every component mentioned.

Good luck - let us know what happens.
