An eBay seller offers the Lincoln MkVIII fan which moves a LOT of air for under $100.
The problem now is that how do you control the fan?
Do you use a manual on-off switch? (Not really efficient)
So now you need some kinda thermostat control...which means more money.

If you can't spend a little over $100 for an electric fan, stick with the stock one - it works.

Cheap will bite you in the ***.

well, just for people who used Tarus fans, or Aaron and Ted,
have u guys heard how well the Tarus fan is on the RX-7?

i guess the only benifit i see doing this is to save some room in the engine compartment....
but none the less i bought the fan, thermostat control, and relay,
just wanna hear some opinions about the fan thats all...

edit: i just saw in the west clasifieds someone selling the same tarus fan and claims it is rated at 4000cfm on high setting. can anyone confirm? or is anyone using the low setting and it still works?

I really don't like to use "used" fans from some other car.
I prefer at least new ones.
My brand preference is Spal.
In the U.S., Be Cool looks like they rebadge a lot of the Spal stuff.

Nono, well at least when i got it, the fan was new in bubble wrap (well i guess the guy could have cleaned it, but if he did.. he used a cue-tip to clean every nook and cranie....)

i mean i guess u can call it USED, but its more like designed for another car =D

anyways, sorry for thereadjacking,

if u want to get an E-fan, i advise u to get a imperal-haden thermostat fan controller, easy to install, and it turns on at a set temp (use a pot, boil water, measure temp with cooking thermometer....always works =)

and get a relay to connect it too.....

one thing i would suggest is to create a fan on light, so u know when your fan is on, and also connect an extra trigger to say like the AC, so when u turn on your AC it SHOULD turn on, now if u turn on the AC and the light is not on, chances are, something is wrong.... so that is an extra safety precaution.....

I just installed two 12 inch Transpro fans running off of a Transpro Adjustable thermostatic dual fan controller. It is nice cause if wired like I have it the fans will stay on till the temp (in the radiator) drops below the setting. If anyone wants pics of the controller just let me know.

Never heard of those thermostat controllers, but I trust my Spal FAN-PWM.

I am running a spal 14in 2700cfm fan now and it works great. Non turbo motor. I am certain it would cool a turbo too.

What I did is used the OEM shroud and cut a sheet of aluminum to fit as I needed inside it and clear the water pump with my fan on. I then bent tabs placing them behind the plat. Drill a hole through the tab and the shroud and the fan plate. Pop rivet these so not you have a support and covering. Make sure you did your test fitting first I used masking tape to hold everything in place. Trace the fan out and cut inside your line about 3/4th of an in. Now to seal the air gaps tape the outer line of the shroud and plate off. Flip it over fill with great stuff foam. Removing masking tape spray paint and its all good.

Remember you need a shroud around the whole RAD or you lose capacity.

I then used no shroud and a 10in fan I just used them RAD zip tie things. I zipped the fan up to the lower drive side of the AC condenser and set it up to push. This position least interfered with the pulling fan in front. I then ran 2 relays behind the battery next to rad support. One relay for each fan the front fan uses its switch from the AC compressor exciter wire. The other relay controls RAD fan from a thermostat control.

They both share constant power so grab 12v from wherever you want that is based on key on with a 30A or 40A fuse. If you want to run it to battery note the RAD fan will stay on till temps have dropped enough so think about your settings here.

a autozone fan will not cool a rx7. I already have one at the house because I thought it would.

I just bought a vintage air 18'' fan today with a 68 camaro shroud. It pulls 3700 cfm.
thats the most i have ever heard of for a efan.

It depends on the size and cfm he gets. I work at autozone and we sell a 18 inch e fan that pulls 2200 cfm. that should be plenty to cool an N/A. Like I stated earlier in this tread I got two of the 12 inchers, which pull around 1500 cfm each and they cool fine, on my turbo. the only thing you have to worry about with cooling fans is that you have to get a decent amount of air moving past as many (optimally all) of the core tubes.

what size fan were you running that you bought at autozone? what kind of shround were you using? Just cause you bought one and it wasn't sufficient doesn't mean you are right.
