dyno'd the 89 GTU

dyno'd the car saturday. '89 GTU. here's what she got.

this is with intake and full exhaust (header, presilencer, duals) and stock ports. orginal engine, 92k miles, changed the plugs that morning. i was told that they see 124-128 out of unmodified S5 NA's and that i could expect low 140s with intake and exhaust. oh the flames were pretty too, nice 3 foot long ones from both sides. if i could lean out the high end i could probably pull somemore ponies at high revs since it runs up to super rich.

nice numbers.

so other than intake and exhaust what mods do you have? and by duals you mean dual mufflers or an uncollected exhaust like say sureshot's

i think you could pull more HP. Mine was dynoed at 153.1 with all the mods below except for the S-AFC, which wasn't working at that time. Here is my dyno sheet:

no rpm's on your dyno sheet? what did they run it to?

edit: oh and i'm sure i could pull more hp. esp since i haven't done much to it. i'm thinking SAFC, CDI, ported and matched IM at least.

they were having problem picking up my RPM when it was dynoed. I don't what was wrong. BTW, I also didn't have the EIC, pre-silencer and the ACT clutch during this dyno. I don't know if those brought up my HP after I put them in. I can tell though from my butt dyno but I think I have to bring it again for the real dyno just to make sure

Good numbers, it seems like my idea of 170rwhp isn't too far off. I would need to get 20 more HP, and I would add a intake manifold with 50mm TB's and a Microtech, should be doable.

yeah, i know of 2 people that have actually dyno'd about 10 more hp after adding an SAFC to their bolt on mods. 10 more would get me at 160...woot. that would be just dandy.

that particular 8 wasn't dyno'd. the owner said he wanted a couple thousand miles on it before he started pushing it. however a friend of a friend of mine dyno'd a new 8 and was rather disappointed with something in the neighborhood of like 185 at the wheels i think

how many miles though? the rx8's engine will be building compression for the first couple thousand miles (like 10k or something.....?) and as it builds more compression, the power will go ^

Bingoboy: Those are some pretty decent numbers, especially considering that you're on the stock block. Get yourself an AFC and lean out the top. You'll easilly see 170 RWHP.

You're graph looks very clean. You can clearly see where the 6-ports and VDI open. It always amazes me to see the torque drop off like that when the VDI opens.
