ok i know this is a dumb question, but do you have to run a vented hood on a vmount or hmount ic setup?

You don't HAVE to, but it's a lot more efficient to do so. (both running a vented hood, and searching )

 

i know bluetii did it but my searches came up with nothing besides his setup

 

Wow there is a thread like 3 down from yours that explains why you can't find results.

 

You don't have to use a vented hood, but it will increase the effectiveness of the intercooler. As long as there's sufficient clearance between the hood and IC for air to flow then it will work just as well as a FMIC, and still have the advantages of short pipes and not blocking airflow to the radiator and oil cooler. But if you mount it too high it'll be useless.
