Hi

Ok so i have an 87 t2 w/ lots of mods and now ive drilled and taped the back of the water pump housing a few times for water temp gauges and e-fan gauges etc.

well now that i have all those gauges back there is it ok to relocate the water temp sensor to the water pump fillter neck??? i would have to extend the eonnector but thats not big deal. what im worried about is the gauge not reading right

well i want to know what u guys think.

It should be mounted under the thermostat or it'll be sending the ECU an incorrect signal during warm-up. It shouldn't have been moved from its stock position. You should've found other locations for aftermarket sensor(s) instead, like this:
