dumb idea
i was thinking and got an idea to put a six speed trany in my 88 gxl. can it be done and would it be worth it?

Yes it can be done, obviously all you need is $$$$. Personally I don't think its a dumb idea. HKS (I think, I saw it on the blitz car.) makes a 6 speed autoshift for the FD with enough $$$$ it can be fitted.

for like 8G for the sequencial one... thats the one Soul had in his car before it was parted out not worth it... just try and find a perfect gear setting for what driving you want to do

A six speed in an FC to me would not be worth it, but its your money so you do what you want with it

you would get some more acceleration out of the car. With the turbo motor it would make more of a difference

ok, well here is a dumb question, what is the difference between the gsl, gxl, and any other variation of the second gens? i kinda assumed they were all the same.

I've heard of people putting Miata 6 speed tranies in 7's. You have to machine the input shaft and do some other stuff, but it's not supposed to be that hard.

The downside to that is that the Miata transmission can't handle that much power... not as much as the stock FC NA transmission
