Mean low rumble? Try a V8 american sports car.

Most flowmaster mufflers will not handle being used as the "middle/main" muffler. They will blow out in as short a time as a few minutes. They might last a month or two though but in that position the exhaust pulses and temperatures are too extreme for any cheap baffled muffler.

Now to be serious, do you honestly think that a 1.3 liter engine can have a "low rumble" ? Its quite nearly impossible to do that. You must come to terms with what you own and not try to make it what it is CLEARLY not.

flowmasters are actually welded, and have no packing, only internal baffles. I have a 40 series in my 88 SE, with a pair of the N1 styles in the back, and it is LOUD! It is a good sound tho, other mods are race ported exhaust, custom headder, 3" pipe thru a silencer and flow, then dual 2.25" back to the N1's. And it does have a deep rumble at lower r's, but starts screaming at higher rpms. I wouldnt recomend it if you have to pass DEQ noise requirements.

i personally like the sounds of the intake and turbo/blow off. i would think adding an agressive exaust would muffle any turbo sounds dont you think?

driftmunkey,

I am aware of the welding and baffles.

They sound like crap.
They are not designed for a rotary engine.
I would not recommend them.

My friend has a flowmaster on his TII and it is not to my liking. It sounds all tingy and metally.

actually, it is possible to get a "mean low rumble" out of one of these... the compression chambers are EACH 40 ci which is comparable to a 327 (40*8=320)... and the slower idle can give it somewhat of a wop-wop-wop sound... although running at 8000 rpms kinda kills that... but I got it with two stock mufflers and no cats best. I ran 2.5" piping and stuff...

well true, adding an aggressive low rumble exhaust does muffle the turbo sound and blow off sound a bit......

but well, some prefer the low rumble than the high pitch vaccum cleaner sound of the RX-7
