Dual 2.5" on NA?

I have full 2.5" exhaust aside the Y-pipe, if i get a 2.5" Y-pipe will it reduce torq for being "too-open" like i read if the exhaust is too open, it will actually reduce torq, or hp.

2.5 is quite large for the engine...even with a mild streetport...however the only downside you're really going to experence us a loss of low-end drivabillity. After you have a completely free-ed up exhaust the only thing the size of the tubing does is move the powerband around...smaller=low end power larger=equals a higher top end. The "Y" and the tubing after will greatly reduce your rate of flow at low rpms and cause a lot of turbulance being 2.5" but after about 5K it'll even out...except for the turbulance caused by the "Y"...

IMHO your best setup would be a 2.5" single...

i have 2.5", it's just fine down low and at high rpms(after 6k) it really moves. go with 2.5 it will be just fine

2.5" in the y pipe is just fine. 2.5" in the headers is WAY too big. 2.5" in the midpipe is good.

He knows that. It is just a general statement to cover all the bases in regards to where 2 1/2" pipe is and isn't good.

I always heard that 2.25 to 2.5 was optimal for performance.

I figured he knew that but I was trying to figure out if he was talking about the "Y" where the header pipes come togethor or the one the divides the exhaust to the mufflers...if you're looking for a real performance gain the 2.5" should be carried pass the split the the mufflers...

Generally, a y pipe is where the one pipe splits into two, while a collector is where 2 pipes merge into one.

I've been very busy and stressed with work lately. Need to buy a house in Houston? I've been too tired to get on here and argue lately with all the other pressures.
