Question droning sound from rear of car?

I've got this sound coming from the rear, what sounds like the passenger side of the car. I assume it's something with the rear wheel bearing, but I can't rip it apart at school to see what it is. Basically it's loud when I'm cruising around and gets progressively louder with speed (NOT rpm). So it's either the diff or wheel bearing from I can gather. I can't see why the diff would make a droning sound like this though, so assuming it's the wheel bearing, how hard is it to change, and is it all one assembly, or could I get seperate parts? I believe the fronts are an entire assembly, but for the back I think I just find the bad part(s) and replace them without buying the entire assembly. Anyone have any other parts I should try to check out when I finally tear in or any other words of wisdom for me?

I have a slight sound from the rear ('89TII) which I haven't been able to pinpoint. It doesn't change even if turning left or right. I jacked up the car under shock mounts, and took it to 50mph. No sounds, just some vibrations from out of balance tires. I know on mine, manual calls for, I believe, <.004 in/out movement of the wheel when checking wheel bearings. Also rear bearings need to be pressed out...Don't know if '88 are the same. There is a lot of writeups if you use the search option.

Resto II: Don't know if yours is the same drone as mine was but sounds similar. I had a drone for several years that increased with speed and seemed to be louder each year. This summer I changed my differential and transmission fluids and put in some Redline- ever since then the drone has pretty much gone away.

turbonut reminds me... mine changes depending on turning. Left turns don't affect it, but right do. This is another reason I believed it was the bearing.

I also have redline all around and the sound started after I changed, so thanks sexy, cause that reinforces that it's probably not my diff, and that's what I wanted to hear.
