Driving a blown engine questions

Ok i'm being a bad bad boy. i'm driving my 7 even though it has a blown engine.

I had to adjust the TPS and lean/rich screw to even get her to think about idling. SO anyway i got back from my drive about 5 minutes ago and the header was bright red. yeah i know that's not good but is that from running WAY to rich? And i plan on taking the engine out of my car very soon so i wanted to drive her at least 5 more miles so i went for it. heck it's allready broken no big deal right??

Well thanks for you input all.

BTW is it just a matter of luck what rotor goes out or is it normally the back one like on mine? the front pipe on the header was glowing red.

Oh one more thing i thought was pretty sweet. Even though half the engine went to hell when i was driving her and got her above 4K rpm's she really seemed to get acceleration. yeah i know everybody knows this and whatnot but i thought it cool i had some high end left.

the glowing is because the dead rotor doesn't fire, or if it does it's a very weak ignition... so the exhaust is full of raw fuel and oxygen.

this would be great if you had a jet engine because then you'd have an afterburner, but unfortunately you don't

Nah, all the damage was done the instant the seal popped. Ive loged probably over 100 miels on blown engine 7's. My best accomplishment was selling all the 7's I had around(3 in one day) adn being left with only a blown 7 to drive. I had located a used engine for it and had to drive 25 miles through some moderate mountains to get it...so I drove the blown 7 over, picked it up, put the block in the front floorboard(removed pass. seat), drove back home through the mountains, and replaced the engine that night, and was driving it (normally) the next day.

You can set it to idle about 1500-1800 and it'll stay running, but I just keep the gas floored and actuate teh clutch pedal when I need to

Some engines only blow a single apex seal, and continue to fire on one face of that rotor; these engines will idle on their own at 1000rpm, just vibrate, and be really weak.

Most engines blow all 3 apex's and fire on only 3 faces of the other rotor, these must be idled up close to 2000.
