Question Driver Adjustable Suspension

Greetings everyone!
I am new to the board, and as my first post, I would like to ask your opinion.
Driver Adjustable Suspension...
its a cool feature, and is something that few cars other than RX-7s have, but is it really useful? Or would the majority of people prefer to go with the standard adjustment-on-the-shock thing availible on aftermarket shocks, rather than have to buy stock shocks just so you can use your cool little button in the cockpit?
Let me know, I'm considering buying new shocks, and would like some opinions on if I should get some decent aftermarket, or stock.

When you see the replacement price of the factory electrically adjustable shocks, you will **** bricks. Trust me...

What about performance though? When I bought that car for my girlfriend ('89 GXL), the shocks/springs were already pretty weak, so I'm not sure how much a difference the electrical adjustment will make... if there is a noticeable difference in ride quality between soft/hard modes, then maybe it would be worth the shitting bricks price tag....

I did a full upgrade for my old MX6-GT turbo w/ adj. suspeinsion....I did get a good deal that anyone would not believe. I can just say, I saved 50%. I had used them with a set of Eibach springs.

The shocks are great shocks for the normal person that is not to interested in racing (of any type). They valving is pretty much standard of 3 settings, soft - med - hard. In certain situaltions, your choice of settings do not work. I felt that dampening more in the rear was needed and less in the front front (on hard position).

I will recommend that you go aftermarket.

I have kept the AAS functional on my car. It is not a popular thing to do on this board but I like it. My car is my daily driver and I enjoy being able to push the sport button when I find I want to corner hard (don't have time to go poking around under fenders). I also like the fact it automatically changes setting at high speeds. Sometimes you just don't know when you are going to go fast. Only thing I wanted different was a softer setting for crusing on the interstate or really rough roads.

Thaniel....
How long has it been since you replaced the shocks in your car? I seriously would like to keep AAS functional, (as this car is for my g/f, the simpler everything works the better! haha) but I would also like to get an idea as to the lifespan of these shocks.... I don't want to be paying out my butt for something that will need replacement every 2 years. If they can last me for 3-4 more years (when the car is replaced w/an rx-8), then I would think AAS a worthy investment.

If you want simple go with some non adjustable struts from Tokico and Racing Beat coil springs. Good improvement over the factory if you want an upgrade or you can just put the non adjustable struts on with the factory coil springs. Either way its an improvement over the factory IMO.

original OEM replacements are way too expensive. it is a lot cheaper to just buy aftermarket adjustable shocks.

The fronts have been on the car since I owned it ('94). They may well be the original ones. They are due to be changed soon.

I replaced the rear struts around 4 years ago and they are still working great.

As far as pricing goes shop around. When I bought mine I ordered them from a dealer on the east coast at about 50% off what my local dealer wanted.

By the way my car is a daily driver.
